This course is designed for students with some drawing or painting experience looking for personalized instruction and a welcoming creative community. Work, reflect, and grow as an artist while enjoying an inspiring atmosphere. Each session is 3-hours.
Not as structured as our beginning classes, The Artist Studio is a space to explore personal projects and creative questions with the help of your instructor and fellow artists. You’ll leave each lesson feeling supported and inspired. This class is ongoing and focuses on a wide range of projects, mediums and methods. Each session is unique. Classes are guided by the interests and projects of the group. Please arrive with a project or goal in mind. Some common choices include:
Technical guidance
Breaking through creative block
Color theory
Constructive critique
Art History & getting inspired
Sketchbook work & creative exploration
If you are new to drawing or painting, we strongly recommend taking one of our beginner courses for in-depth technical instruction. This course is not intended for individuals who are just beginning and have no prior experience working with a traditional medium.
You are welcome to work in the traditional medium of your choice. Acrylic paint, gouache, watercolor, and traditional drawing mediums (colored pencils, ink, graphite, pastels, etc.) are welcome! However please be aware that*no oil paint or aerosols are allowed*
Students are responsible for providing their own materials. This includes paints, brushes, sketchbooks, paper, canvases, etc.11x14 canvas boards are available for purchase on site as needed.
Standing easels and table work space is available. Standing easels are first come first serve.
Please arrive ready to create and engage with other artists. You’re welcome to bring food and drinks to the class. Price is for one 3-hour session.
